Jo-Anne E. Sellers, 83, of McAlisterville, left this earth to be with our Lord on Friday evening January 8, 2016, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born March 4, 1932 in McAlisterville, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and May (Gearhart) Long. On November 3, 1951, she married her surviving husband, Delbert E. Sellers, with who she was blessed to share more than 64 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Dennis Sellers and wife Penny, of State College, Teresa Snyder and husband Allen, of Colorado, Nevin Sellers and wife Cheryl, of Shermans Dale, and Troy Sellers and wife Christie, of Muncy; brothers, Glenn Long, of Austin, Texas, Harold Long, Larry Long, both of McAlisterville; 11 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
An infant daughter, preceded her in death.
Jo-Anne was a 1950 graduate of Fayette High School and a long-time member of the Brown’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville where she served as Sunday school teacher and member of the choir. She was also a member of the Mifflin Ch. 260, Order of the Eastern Star, the Juniata County Republican Committee, where she had served as chairperson, was a member of the singing group “One in the Spirit” and volunteered at Abundant Blessings.
She retired after 48 years of owning and operating a beauty shop.
Jo-Anne enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, cooking, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing games.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from the Brown’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville with the Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
A viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
