Beatrice P. Shelley, 82, of East Salem died at 6:50 a.m., on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born on November 14, 1933 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Gladys (Long) Swartz. On May 18, 1955 she married her late husband, Roy T. Shelley, with whom she shared more than 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 17, 2014.
Surviving are her daughters, Cindy Shirk and her husband Leo, Debbie Martin and her husband Joe, all of Thompsontown, grandchildren, Lashonda Huffman and her husband Brad, Shelly Kauffman and her husband Brett, Amber Davenport and her husband Robert, Misty Edinger and her husband Paul, also she leaves behind 9 great grandchildren and her companion “Tabby” the cat.
Mrs. Shelley was the last of her generation and she was member of Juniata County Historical Society.
In earlier life she had worked for L. Shellenberger and Sons Shirt Factory, Meda Nipple Nursing Home, and other local shirt factories before retiring in 1995 as an aid from the Selinsgrove State Center.
Bea enjoyed singing with her late husband Roy at various nursing homes and senior centers. She also loved to crochet, do crafts and can food but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. James A. Neimond, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Delaware Mennonite Cemetery, East Salem.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Friday, at the funeral home.
