Donald E. Weller, 78, of McAlisterville died at 6:45p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on August 21, 1937 in Thompsontown, Juniata County he was a son of the late Harry and Vada M. (Hostetler) Weller. On June 15, 1956 he married his surviving wife, Phyllis (Beward) Weller, with whom he was blessed to share nearly 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters; Shari Cogley and her husband Scott, of Mechanicsburg, Terri Leister and her husband Denis, of McAlisterville; siblings, Ronald Weller, of Wormleysburg, Robert Weller and Jane Frey, both of Liverpool; four grandchildren, Matthew Leister and his wife Bobbi, Marah Leister, Devon Cogley, Drew Cogley and a great grandson, Maddox Leister.
Twin sons, Timothy and Todd Weller, preceded him in death.
Mr. Weller was a 1955 graduate of East Juniata High School, and a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville where he had served on the church council. He was also a member of the Fayette Lions Club, serving as Treasurer and was a member of the Tennis Lodge #371 F&AM, Thompsontown.
In earlier life, Don was employed as the service manager for Leister Ford and later Mertz Ford, McAlisterville after which he became a self-employed truck driver for Fast Freight. During his retirement he continued to drive truck for Rickenbaugh Building Supply and Tedd Wood, Inc.
Don was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan and a Penn State Football fan. He loved fishing and hunting, especially going to hunting camp; but his greatest joy was his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Erin Bovendam officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. with family present from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the church, on Friday.
