Stella B. Henry, 88, formerly of Honey Grove died at 5:05 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on August 16, 1927, in Milton, Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Naomi (Steininger) Baylor. On November 27, 1948, she married her late husband, John P. “Jack” Henry, Jr, with whom she was blessed to share more than 65 years of marriage.
Surviving are her children: Barbara H. Gilson and her husband Ralph, III, of Port Royal, John P. “Pat” Henry, III and his wife Karen B., of Academia, Stephen H. Henry and his wife Debra K., of Honey Grove, Sharon L. Henry and companion Richard Barr, of Marysville, one brother, John Edward Baylor and his wife Rebekah, of Nashville, TN and she leaves behind six grandchildren: Clinton Gilson, Adam Gilson, Christina Martin, John P. Henry, IV, Michael Henry, Bethany Adhikari as well as five great grandchildren.
One daughter, Cheryl L. Henry, and three siblings, Maurice Baylor, Lee Baylor and Mary Katherine Simon, preceded her in death.
Stella was a 1945 graduate of Milton High School, a 1948 graduate of Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, a member of the East Waterford Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Polyannas of the Church. She was also a member of the Tuscarora Grange 774 and a life member of the Mifflin Chapter 260, Order of the Eastern Star, Mifflintown.
Mrs. Henry was employed as a nurse at the Harrisburg Hospital, and later from 1950 until Jack’s retirement in1991, Stella and Jack owned and operated the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, and also owned and operated Henry’s General Store from 1950 to 1971.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Donald Walters officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the East Waterford Cemetery.
Viewing will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
