John E. “Jack” Musser, 87, of McAlisterville died at 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born on September 21, 1928, in Altoona, Blair County, he was the son of the late John E., Sr. and Marion J. (Bashore) Musser. On June 18, 1950, he married his late wife Audrey J. (Walmsley) Musser, with whom he was blessed to share more than 51 years of marriage, before she preceded him in death on June 3, 2001.
Surviving are his children, J. Steven Musser and his wife Kim, of McAlisterville, Jeffrey W. Musser and his wife Debra, of Hubbard, OH, Deborah J. Pacana, of Doylestown, Cathy M. Freed and her husband Craig, of Waldorf, MD; 3 grandchildren, Adam Musser, Austin Freed and Patricia Pacana-Rose, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Musser was a member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville, where he served as a trustee. He also was a trustee for the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery and a member and past worshipful master of the Tennis Lodge # 371, F&AM, Thompsontown, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest # 88, A.A.S.R. Harrisburg Consistory, the Juniata County Republican Committee and he had served as the auditor of Fayette Township.
In earlier life, Jack was a dairy farmer. While farming, he drove buses for BKW Coach Lines and Nace Bus Service after which he owned and operated two bus routes for the Juniata County School District for 35 years until retiring in 2010.
He enjoyed golfing, being a long time member of the Lost Creek Golf Club, Oakland Mills, where he had served on the Board of Directors. He was an avid newspaper reader, who was a great sports enthusiast who followed NASCAR, football and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Rev. Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville.
A viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016 and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be accorded by his lodge at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
