Shane M. Swartz, 43, of Richfield, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Swatara Twp., Dauphin County.
Born on November 15, 1972, in Mahoning Twp., Montour County, he was the son of Ronald W. and Diane M. (Lauver) Swartz, of Richfield
He is survived by a daughter, Kalista M. Swartz, currently attending Lock Haven University; wife Sheri L. (Hoyt) Swartz, of Grants Pass, Oregon; maternal grandmother, Thelma Lauver and paternal grandmother Jean Swartz, both of Richfield.
Two grandfathers, Clair K. Lauver, Warren Swartz and his uncle Craig A. Lauver, preceded him in death.
Shane was a 1990 graduate of East Juniata High School and the Mifflin-Juniata Area Vo-Tech, where he studied auto body repair. After high school, Shane attended WTTI welding technical school in Selinsgrove where he became a certified welder.
Shane loved hunting, welding, logging, music, fast cars, traveling and the great outdoors. He enjoyed owning several wolves, and went on a mission trip, deep in the jungle, to help the Bribri Tribe, who are the indigenous people of Costa Rica. There he used his welding skills to fabricate a very large gate to secure the mission compound. But most of all in life, he loved his daughter, who he said, "Was the greatest joy in life and the best thing he ever did." Kalista loved her dad, and is broken-hearted at his passing.
