Julia M. Hockenberry, 75, formerly of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 11:12 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at The Hearthside Nursing and Rehab Center, State College.
Born on December 26, 1940, in Derry Twp., Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Thomas) Edwards. On October 7, 1961 she married her late husband William E. Hockenberry, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 46 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on March 15, 2007.
Surviving are her children, William E. Hockenberry and his wife Sara, of Burnham, Pauline Page and her husband Donald, of Mifflintown, Mary E. Todaro and her husband Gregg, of Mt. Union, Julia M. Yetter, of Lewistown, Jeannie E. Moore and her husband James, of Strodes Mills; siblings, George F. Edwards and his wife Virginia, James H. Edwards, Emma M. Stuck, Anna Hosler and her husband Dennis, Betty M. McNitt and her husband James, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A great-grandson, Damien Shreffler and a sister Elizabeth A. Himes preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hockenberry was a homemaker, and a member of the Lewistown Assembly of God Church.
Julia loved crocheting and sewing with her family. She enjoyed going camping with her friends; however, she will long be remembered as a mother to all of the neighborhood kids.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from the Lewistown Assembly of God Church, Lewistown with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, until the time of service
at the church.
