Frank K. Wolfe, 94, of Mifflin died at 6:05 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County.
Born November 20, 1922, in Millerstown, Perry County, he was a son of the late Benjamin F. and Fannie E. (Woodward) Wolfe. On July 3, 1951 he married his late wife, Phyllis (Smith) Wolfe with whom he was blessed to share more than 55 years of marriage, before she preceded him in death on July 11, 2006.
Surviving are two sons, Robert E. Wolfe and his wife, Debbie, New Castle, Del., John K. Wolfe and his wife Heidi, Port Royal, four grandsons, Jamie M. Wolfe and his wife Wendy, Thad B. Wolfe and his wife Megna, Benjamin K. Wolfe and his wife Brandy, Justin A. Wolfe and his wife Danielle and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Wolfe and Carter Wolfe.
Two brothers Robert Wolfe, Lester “Shine” Wolfe and two sisters, Ruth Wolfe and Helen Coder preceded him in death making him the last of his generation.
During WWII he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and he was a 1941 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. Also he was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 298, Mifflintown,
In earlier life he was employed by Simms as a crane operator and he retired from Avtex Fibers, Lewistown.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, birdwatching, watching the trains in Mifflin, taking rides through Licking Creek and he will long be remembered for his story telling ability; however his greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek with the Pastor Stephanie Rupert officiating and where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
There will be no public viewing.
