Goldie A. Hoffman, 75, of Thompsontown went to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:50 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2017 at her home.
Born on May 5, 1942, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Freda (Graybill) Lauver. On November 25, 1961, she married her surviving husband, Chester A. Hoffman, with whom she was blessed to share more than 55 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters, Sheri Graybill and her husband Karl, of Mifflintown, Lisa Davis and her husband James, of Thompsontown, Wendy Albright and her husband Darryl, of Lancaster; siblings, Paul Lauver and his wife Shirley, of Mifflintown, Celo Lauver and his wife Maryann, of Harrisburg, a sister-in-law, Cindy Lauver, of McAlisterville; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Graybill and his wife Kristie, of Baltimore, Trevor Davis and his wife Kathryn, of Dillsburg, Karissa Graybill, of Mifflintown, Emily Beck and her husband Adam, of McAlisterville, Benjamin Hallman and Holly Hallman, both of Lancaster, and she leaves behind three precious great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Addison and Everly.
Two brothers, Roy Lauver in 1955 and Larry Lauver in 2006, preceded her in death.
She was a Life member of the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills, where she had been a Bible school teacher and along with her husband served as the youth group advisors at the church, also she had been a volunteer for the Juniata Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Hoffman was a homemaker, whose loving, kind hearted and giving spirit turned her attention to her family, her church and anyone who needed her help. In spite of her debilitation, she was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Goldie along with her husband enjoyed traveling and vacationing with friends; but, her true joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 from the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, 2682 Long Road, Mifflintown with Pastor Keith Graybill officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from the Lost Creek Mennonite Church and again from 10:30 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church.
