Mary D. Cox, 89, of Millerstown formerly of Thompsontown died at 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Pinnacle Health West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Born October 5, 1926, in Millerstown, Perry County, she is the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle Mildred (Sullenberger) Daughenbaugh. On November 29, 1946 she married her late husband; James E. Cox with whom she was blessed to share of more than 31 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 7, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Inez McClure, of Millerstown; a sister-in-law Lulu Daughenbaugh, Brookline Village, Mifflintown; a grandson, Matthew McClure and his wife Brooke, of Liverpool and 2 great-grandchildren, Molly McClure and Brody McClure.
Two brothers, Paul Daughenbaugh, Melvin Daughenbaugh and a sister, Eileen Shipe preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cox was a 1944 graduate of Thompsontown High School also a graduate of Central Penn Business School, and a member of the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, where she had served as treasurer.
She started her working career as a bookkeeper at S & S Chevrolet, Thompsontown and later retired in 1972 from Regester Chevrolet, Inc., Thompsontown.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, from the Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown, with the Rev. Barbara Yorks officiating.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
The family will provide all funeral flowers, and kindly ask that memorial contributions in Mrs. Cox’s memory be made to the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, c/o Anise Page, Treasurer, 295 Sycamore Dr., Thompsontown, PA 17094.
