Donald E. Goshorn, Sr., 76, of Mifflintown passed away at 11:33 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Emergency Room of Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on October 27, 1938 in Tell Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Robert and Mabel (Jefferies) Goshorn. On April 6, 1958 he married his surviving wife Roxie (Casner) Goshorn with whom he shared more than 55 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donald E. Goshorn, Jr. and his wife Christine, Terry A. Goshorn and his wife Barbara, Linda D. Whistler and her husband Steven, all of Mifflintown, James M. Goshorn and his wife Kristie, of Port Royal, 3 sisters, 6 grandchildren, Donald E. Goshorn, III and his wife Beth, Jonathan A. Goshorn, Andrea M. Whistler, Julia A. Whistler, Adam James Goshorn, Sarah Grace Goshorn, and a great-grandson, Gavin David Goshorn.
Three brothers, Robert Goshorn, David Goshorn and Walter Goshorn preceded him in death.
He was a 1958 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and his memberships included the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863, Mifflintown and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 2244, Selinsgrove.
Mr. Goshorn currently owns and operates Goshorn Auto Salvage and Towing, Mifflintown and previously owned Goshorn’s Tavern, Mifflin.
“Don” enjoyed hunting, gardening and farming. He was well known for his racing career at Port Royal Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway and Hagerstown Speedway. Over his racing career he had 47 wins. He always relished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. William Muldoon officiating. Interment will follow in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
