Karen S. Goss, 60, of Mifflintown passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at her home.
Born on May 22, 1955 in Derry Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Darwin E. “Dick” and Lois E. (Shearer) Noss. On September 14, 1975, she married her surviving husband, Larry P. Goss, with whom she was blessed to share more than 40 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children: Matthew Goss and his wife Jeanne, of Bel Air, MD, Abagail Perdew and her husband Craig, of Shippensburg; siblings, Sandra J. Kohler and her husband John, of Carlisle, Darwin S. Noss and his wife, Bobby Kay, of Honey Grove, Michael H. Noss and his partner, Louis J. Cummings, of The Villages, FL, Keith A. Noss and his wife Carrie, of Port Royal, and she leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Evan and Anna Jean Goss and Olivia and Jonathan Perdew.
In 1973, she graduated from Juniata High School, Mifflintown, and later graduated from Empire Beauty School, Lewistown. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, where she served as Director of the Parrish Fellowship Board and on the committee to make Advent banners as well as a member and past treasurer of the Juniata Valley Quilting Guild.
She was a homemaker, who in earlier life was employed as a hairdresser for Danks Dept. Store and Bon Ton, Inc. both of Lewistown. She also owned and operated Karen and Diane’s Beauty Shop, Mifflintown. Later she worked as a home health care worker.
Karen loved quilting, knitting, crocheting and crafting. She also enjoyed going to Florida to see her brother; however, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Many people will remember her for her unique laugh.
There will be no viewing and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown with Rev. William N. Esborn officiating. Interment will be private and held in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mrs. Goss’s memory may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 South Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 115, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
